Scripture for the Day Dec 3rd 2020: Don't Be Happy!
Don't you love provocative headlines? Well, I do when they're rooted in the Truth. However, when I see MSM headlines or RINO statements, I get nauseous. Not so with my statement above. It's testimony that the world misunderstands because they have no wisdom.
The root of the Hebrew word "Happiness" is "Blessedness". Modern translations conform their interpretation to the (gentile/worldly) Greek meaning: Happy.
But the root of the wordly happy is "Happening", "Occurrence", "Event"... suggesting you are to endure and accept all that is happening, implying that you have no power over what's happening.
Oh LORD. It's blasphemy.
I am not happy. I am joyful. Only a Holy Spirit-filled person can experience genuine joy and the peace that brought it. They're quite different things. I can be joyful about giving, about the knowledge of, and my relationship with God. It's not just happening. It directly results from my surrender to God, my faith in God and His promises, the knowledge of His Word, and the power He has invested in me, which I am exercising: the Word of His Power. That joy trumps all happiness feelings I could ever experience. Remember, brothers and sisters, feelings, emotions are prisoners of time. They're temporary. But the joy that God has brought me is permanent. Praise be to You, LORD!
The word happiness occurs 19 times in the bible; the word joy, 277 times. I rest my case. (source logos.com)
HAPPY = 19 times
JOY = 277 times
Why is that? Because Happiness is based on egocentrism. Joy is based on God's gifts.
Let this Scripture BE your prayer today.
1 Chronicles 16:33 (NASB95)
33 Then the trees of the forest will sing for joy before the Lord;
For He is coming to judge the earth.
LORD, wicked Biden and his followers know no joy. Let them, too, see the light, if they dare. Right now, they happen to be happy with the lies they concoct. As for me, I rejoice in Your Word and in our relationship.
I pray that everyone else who hasn't sold their soul to evil experiences the joy that only God can give. Though I am in this world, I am not of it. Happens to be the truth.
In Jesus' name
Amen
