Two Short Anecdotes

The Facts Didn’t Matter

Before I went to college I worked with a man who knew more Bible facts than many preachers. Yet he claimed to be an atheist. He studied the Bible only to argue about it and to try to refute it.   p 146  God holds such persons responsible for knowledge about which they do nothing.

Fools “Here”

Richard Brinsley Sheridan once succeeded admirably in trapping a noisy member of the House of Commons who interrupted every speaker with cries of, “Hear, hear!” He alluded to a well-known political character whom he represented as a person who wished to play the rogue, but had only sense enough to play the fool.

“Where,” exclaimed Sheridan with great emphasis, “where shall we find a more foolish knave or more knavish fool than this?”

“Hear, hear!” was instantly bellowed from the accustomed bench.

“Thank you very much,” said Sheridan   p 1112  with a bow as he took his seat amid peals of laughter.

Arguing With Fools Is Foolish

It will make us fools just the same. It's not I who says that, it's the LORD's Word!

Proverbs 26 is packed with advice on how to deal, or rather not to deal, with fools.

Proverbs 26
3 A whip for the horse, a bridle for the a s s, and a rod for the fool's back.
4 Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him.
5 Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.
6 He that sendeth a message by the hand of a fool cutteth off the feet, and drinketh damage.
7 The legs of the lame are not equal: so is a parable in the mouth of fools.
8 As he that bindeth a stone in a sling, so is he that giveth honour to a fool.
9 As a thorn goeth up into the hand of a drunkard, so is a parable in the mouth of fools.
10 The great God that formed all things both rewardeth the fool, and rewardeth transgressors.|
11 As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.
12 Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him.

Preach the Gospel and let the Seed of the Word do HIS work. Walk away from people who argue and refuse to consider The Light. They are the devil's instrument to waste time, your time. 

Mark 6:10-11
10 And he said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place.
11And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

Luke 10:6
“And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again.”

If someone is willing to listen, however, by all means, state your biblical point of view on the matter. But how many times have we come across democrats, global war-ming-mongerers, gun haters, in other word, fools, who are willing to listen and consider your views? I haven't at all. They are blind and dead, and they do not want to see and listen. Plant the seed, and walk away. Truth, God, is on our side. When you do walk away, pray, though, that the LORD may have mercy on them and opens their eyes and ears. He who has an ear, listen!

Let's Bow Our Hearts and Pray

LORD, thank you for Your wisdom. 
Thank you for your grace, for saving me from my wickedness and protecting me from the evil around me. 
LORD, I beseech you, have mercy on those who for foolishness and intellectual laziness refuse to listen to Your Word. 
Open their eyes for Your Goodness' sake. Do this as you have also removed the blinders from my eyes. 
Open their ears, I pray, that they may accept that You are Lord of all just as you have opened my ears to hear!
Save them just the same, O LORD! 
Soften their hearts, Father God, for your love is greater than the evil that rejects You. 

Revelation 2:7
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
